Busmany and Friends Book Club

Books are better when they give us something to talk about.

BUSMANY and Friends Book Club is a community of curious readers who come together to discover great books, exchange ideas, build meaningful connections and make reading a shared experience.

Membership is currently free Online & in person

The community

More than reading.
It's the conversation.

We believe the best books don't end when you reach the final page. They continue through conversations, questions, disagreements, recommendations and the people you meet along the way.

BUSMANY brings readers together to turn solitary reading into a shared experience.

The Midnight Library

by Matt Haig

Matt Haig's modern fable follows Nora Seed through a library of unlived lives — every book on its shelves a version of herself she might have been. We picked it because it treats regret with warmth instead of judgement, and because no two readers ever agree on which life she should choose.

About BUSMANY

We started with a simple idea.

Reading can be a solitary experience, but it doesn't have to be.

BUSMANY and Friends Book Club was created around a simple idea: books become even more meaningful when we have people to share them with.

We wanted to create a space where readers could discover new books, exchange perspectives, challenge their thinking and build genuine friendships through conversation.

Whether you're someone who reads every week or someone trying to get back into the habit, there is a place for you here.

We believe every good book can start a great conversation.

"You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it."
— Mrs Elm, The Midnight Library

Reading guide

Questions for the table.

Semi-spoilers below — read at your own risk.

01

Between all the lives Nora tries, which one felt closest to the life you would have chosen — and why?

02

Mrs Elm tells Nora: "You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it." Do you agree?

03

What does the book suggest regret is for? Is it a burden, a compass — or both?

04

The Midnight Library exists "between life and death". Why do you think Haig chose a library, of all places?

05

Which small, ordinary moment in the book stayed with you after you closed it?

06

Nora's "book of regrets" is endless. What would the first page of yours say?

07

Did any of Nora's alternate lives change how you see your own "root life"?

08

If a friend asked what this book is about, what would you say in one sentence?

Community

Different shelves. Shared curiosity.

Our members come from different backgrounds, professions, interests and experiences. What brings us together is simple: curiosity.

Every meetup starts the same way: a book, a table, and people willing to talk about it.

House rules

How we keep conversations good.

i.
Read the room, then the book

Spoiler warnings before big reveals — endings are precious.

ii.
Disagree with ideas, never people

The best threads are the ones where someone changes a mind, gently.

iii.
Listen before you respond

Curiosity first. The floor is shared, not won.

iv.
Recommend generously

Someone is always looking for their next book. Be the one who hands it over.
